FAQs
At Flow Martial Arts, we teach a mixed martial arts (MMA) system of different martial arts from around the world. Our system starts with a core of the Korean art of Taekwondo and includes boxing and kickboxing, submission grappling, ground fighting, Filipino knife and stick fighting, and Japanese and Chinese weapons. Our system also focuses on good health, fitness, and conditioning!
We believe in price transparency! We do not have any hidden costs or fees. We ask, as a sign of support for the school, as well as for insurance purposes, that all required equipment is purchased through the school. We will always let you know well in advance what equipment you will need for upcoming ranks, and we keep our prices at or below the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price.
We include all of your color belt rank costs and membership costs as part of our already low tuition prices. The only testing fees are for Black Belt levels for certification. Tuition is collected on a monthly basis and can be canceled at any time with no cancellation fee. We do have a Perseverance Policy which asks that, if you are unhappy for whatever reason, you give us an opportunity to resolve any issues as a part of our martial arts values to commitment and indomitable spirit, but we will never deny a request to cancel.
Any age is a great age to start martial arts! We offer programs specifically designed with the needs of different age groups in mind, and we have experience working with students from as young as 3 years old, up to 70+ years old. The age groups of our kids programs are broken down as follows:
4 – 7 years old Dragons
8 – 12 years old Juniors
We also offer fantastic Teen and Adult programs as well. For more info about how each program addresses the specific needs of each age group, check out Our Programs or Contact Us directly!
Our program is extremely safe and our instructors have a long history of teaching martial arts WITHOUT any major injuries occurring. Martial arts IS a contact sport, so some minor bumps and bruises are to be expected, but serious injuries are quite rare and relative to other contact sports we maintain an excellent safety record. You can rest assured that we have your child’s safety as a top priority, from our top-of-the-line facility and equipment to our instructors’ supervision during classes.
Teaching self-discipline is core to our martial arts mission. We do this not through being mean and nasty and yelling, but through positive reinforcement, clearly set boundaries and expectations, and leading by example. We consider this to be the key difference between discipline and self-discipline, and it is how we maintain our commitment to keeping classes fun (Sweating, Smiling, & Learning!) while also passing along the important mental benefits of martial arts.
Absolutely! Martial arts is an empowering source of confidence for kids AND adults because of how it teaches goal setting and how it rewards progress, effort, and improvement. Confidence is like a muscle – the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets. Our program includes a gradual progression of confidence building components – students are first made to feel comfortable performing techniques in front of their peers and instructors in a classroom setting. We slowly introduce more situations to push the limits of their comfort zones, from practicing public speaking to performing in front of larger audiences such as at a Testing or Tournament. These are the lessons that we want our students to carry with them throughout their life!
